Little Red Riding Wolf

Little Red Riding Wolf 03

The title is because with his flaming red hair and that almost predatory smile, Fyrd just looked like a love child between Red Riding Hood and Big Bad Wolf. Although he's more of a fox usually, but...

I love Fyrd in this kind of surrounding. The white of snow goes with his shirt, whereas the bark matches his pants and eyes. And then there's the stark red of his hair and his ribbon, popping up from all those natural colours around him. I actually had to turn down the saturation for these photos, since the red was looking eye-soringly vivid.

Don't look at these photos too closely, since they aren't as sharp as I've had in some previous sets. I've become a bit too dependent on the tripod and forgot how much harder it is to take sharp pictures freehand. >_< An excuse, but it was really cloudy, so I had to take photos with relatively slow shutter...

But what I'm proud of, is that there's variety in poses and photo angles in this set! When I'm taking plain portraits indoors, they usually end up being from one angle per doll.

And this photo is just pure predator! You can almost hear the njah-njah-njah of him measuring his prey. Probably Nigel... The poor thing.

  1. I love the variety of poses and angles in this set too! Fyrd really looks like he's lurking around the forest. :3

I think what you excel at is that you manage to always show the character that the doll impersonates in you photos. That makes them interesting, not just visually but in the sense they also tell a story.

  2. OwO Thank you so much! I'm glad I can portray their characters through photos. It is slightly easier with dolls like Fyrd though, where his face-up compliments the characteristics I wanted to show.

Actually this might be the reason why I don't pick up Eiko or Phoenix to be photographed... As I haven't decided myself exactly what kind of characters they are, I find them a bit harder to photograph, nevermind both having plenty of good angles. They mostly end up being just pretty dolls, which in the long run makes the photos repetitive. Dunno really how to fix that though...
